Park Run Australia – A great initiative originally set up in the UK and has now crossed over to Australia. Free 5k running races each week. There are lots of locations across Australia now so the best thing to do is to check their website to find a location near to you.
The Brisbane Road Runners club organise a number of events each month that you pay a small fee to be a part of. I’ve done the 5k and intend to do a few more. Their race distances range from 5k right up to 21.1k runs. A great consistent way to time yourself over the same distance at race pace.
InTraining as well as being a shop and podiatrists also have training sessions every month for all levels of runners and they even have a marathon school which is great if you are training for a marathon and need some support and people to run with. Their race of the year is the marathon which they organise.
Toowoomba Road Runners club organise a number of events each month and have regular weekly runs on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. They also organise a number of fun runs and a marathon annually.
EARTHATHON 2015: 10 teams are running in a 25,000-mile Earthathon Relay all around the earth and they will combine to complete a 250,000-mile relay consisting of running, hiking, jogging and walking. It is virtual and each time you complete some training you log it at the Earthathon Run page to score km for your team. I’m in #teamhumanrace :-)
Checkpoints Race – Checkpoints Race is the world’s first connected running competition. It’s a team challenge from May to September which end by a grand finale.
