What are your 2015 running goals?

About this time of year every year I start to reflect on the year that has been and what I’d like to try and achieve in the next 12 months of my running. This year has been an interesting one since I had my little boy part way through the year but it has been a great year.

I’m back into running and am slowly getting my fitness back. I’m very much a goal driven person and in a previous post a week or two ago I had made my mind up not to run a marathon in the imminent future as I really wasn’t motivated, then I had a conversation with one of my friends and with a few people and I’ve pretty much changed my mind yet again! For anyone that knows me that won’t come as much of a surprise!

I originally wanted to do the NY Marathon next year as it’s a ‘special birthday’ for me but whilst it is an iconic race that I will run at some point  –  having a new baby has proved  difficult logistically and too expensive to enter right now with a European trip next year too (unfortunately I won’t have time to fit a race in whilst there) – but I have decided I am going to run a marathon next year but in Australia. Not sure which one yet but I need something to focus on. I’m quite pumped to do it. I know it won’t be a fast race just a plod but I can’t wait!

I got in touch with my runner friend in the UK and after raising his eyebrows he has done a month by month schedule that I will be following to get me back on track. January will be a challenge as it will be warm and the most running I have done in a while but I just can’t wait!

So my goals for 2015 are:What are your 2015 running goals - the girl that runs

1. To run my 5th marathon – I’m not worrying about time I just want to enjoy it with my lovely friend by my side

2. To not be grumpy whilst doing said marathon training since my husband says I always get grumpy when training the longer distance 🙂

3. To potentially get back on my road bike – I haven’t since I gave birth and it’s about time – but all depends on how my wrists fare as they are still not too great.

4. To carry on enjoying my running and to hopefully continue to run injury free

That’s it.  Do you have any exciting goals for 2015? I’d love to hear what they are…

  1. what about the Gold Coast Marathon. I’ve heard it’s a flat course, and it’s one of the main reasons why a lot of people pick it.

Also pop over to running mums australia on facebook, a great network to connect with other mums all over.

    2015 I want to get a sub 1h45 half marathon. I also want to get a sub 46m 10km.
They are my main running goals. I have others, but they are my main ones.

Good luck, and don’t forget to have fun

    1. Hi Matilda I’ve done the Gold Coast half and I found it a bit boring so was avoiding it but it is an option 🙂 thanks re the mums Facebook page I will check it out 🙂

Those are great goals which I’m sure you will achieve! I look forward to following your journey 🙂
